A Piece of Mail: an illustrated poem
I came home from work, I just felt so tired,
I sat down and consumed a dinner uninspired.
Then I went and got the mail, and oh, I say,
I was surprised to see what had arrived today!
I was simply most thrilled to see,
A letter from Neil Cicierega, to me!
A man who made the internet so cool,
Had sent something to me! Just me! That rules.
I wasted no time…well, a minute or two.
I had to acquire the contents, I knew.
So I grabbed my letter opener that was really a knife.
(I haven’t used it for much else in life.)
But this took too long, and I grew impatient.
Opening with a knife was a bad arrangement.
I cast it aside and tore the contents free
With my hands, then I was beholden to see:
Stickers! Adorned by nothing grody,
But by that fine Man of Men: Adrien Brody.
Mr. Cicierega had sent me ten for five bucks!
As I looked over these, I thought, “Aw, shucks.
“Thank you, Sir Neil, these stickers are fine!
“I’ll do good with these Brodys of mine!
“And I know where the first sticker shall be unfurled…
“Today, on my computer. Tomorrow, on the World.”
Thanks for the stickers, Neil! Adrien Brody’s really going to get around thanks to these things.
